I began ministry at Southside in May of 2007 and it's been so wonderful to serve here at Southside Christian Church as a minister. I was an Army Brat growing up, so I've lived in a lot of places, growing up mostly in Germany. Dad retired from the army in Augusta, GA so that was where I went to high school and where they still live. I then went to Georgia Tech for college and remain a staunch Yellow Jackets fan today while still rooting for the UK Wildcats. When I graduated from there I went to Emmanuel School of Religion, a seminary in Johnson City, TN for my ministry education. I've been a minister since 1994 when I began preaching in Cumberland, KY while a student at Emmanuel. While preaching in Harlan County I met and married my beautiful wife, Susan (yes, I know, I married up!). We have been married for 12 years and I'm grateful that God brought us together, she is a real asset to my ministry and is a strong Christian woman. Our son Lee was born in May, 2008 and has added a new dimension of joy to our lives. We have served in the ministry in Kentucky, North Carolina, West Virginia, and now back in Kentucky.
I really love the ministry because I love the Lord and I love people. I'm very excited to be serving here at Southside because this is a congregation of people who feel like I do: they love God and they love people. There is a real family feel here and an excitement to be serving God that is infectious. We are a smaller congregation which means that we can be personally invested in the lives of each person who worships with us. We strive to be true to God’s Word while being relevant to our modern culture. We'd love for you to make Southside your family of faith. We are striving to adore God, convert the lost, teach the disciples, and serve the community in Jesus’ name.

If I had to sum up my life with one verse, this would be the one.
The Lord continues to surprise me as my life unfolds from day to day. And yes, I was surprised and quite hesitant at first when he called me to the Children’s Ministry. But I know that his grace will meet each step of faith I take.
I always dreamed as a child of having a large family with lots of kids running, screaming and laughing. The Lord blessed me with two beautiful and differently unique little girls, Carrie and Amanda. They are as opposite as night and day. As most mothers know, each child is different. And that is the great thing about kids!! I have found with my own, that they have taught me WAY more than I have ever, or will teach them. I love the innocence and pure love that children offer. Their simple way of thinking often grounds me in my faith. And I am looking forward to learning and growing closer to the Lord as this new journey continues.
Speaking of being grounded, that handsome fellow above is my husband Malcolm. I could write a book on how wonderful he is. He is my support system, sounding board and reality checker. We have been married for eight exciting years. And I couldn’t imagine a single day of my life without him.
Remember that verse above? Well in conclusion I have a great vision for the Children’s Ministry….but I know God has an even better one than I can imagine! I’m ready…aren’t you??
